Olymppic 2014 Quarter Final exit

PINTU FC was knocked out in the Olymppic Quarter Final by MDIS in an evenly-interesting match in the cloudy afternoon. The pitch was still wet after the big rain earlier on but that does not reduce the excitement of the game. There is always an interesting match in the knockout round here.

PINTU FC started the match brightly as Alvin Kennardi knocked the cross from the Andhita Dananjaya to beat MDIS keeper, 1-0. There were several chances created again in the first half but neither team was able to capitalize the chance. MDIS came three times scoring with their number 17 playing lively. Eugene denied him twice with his shoulder and left hand respectively, while the crossbar denied him once. PITNU FC, on the other end had one chance from Andhita but his shot was wide.

On the second half, MDIS pressed hard to pull the  scoreline back, and after hitting the crossbar one more time, they finally equalized from a nice finish from inside the area. That goal boosted MDIS' confidence and they finally took the control of the game, forcing PINTU FC to sat deep and playing long ball sporadically. However, it was PINTU FC who was able to score another goal. Andhita Dananjaya smashed the ball to the net without the keeper being able to deny him.

After that goal, PINTU FC created handful of chances from nice one two passes, but MDIS defended well to keep away from another goal. Christiandy Franciscus played a nice one twos with Billy, but their passes was cut short by MDIS defender. Alvin Kennardi might have scored another one should his shot didn't fly over the bar. Focus on attacking, PINTU FC was caught napping, as MDIS no 17 equalized after overrun Irvan Indra and beat Eugene to the far, top corner of the goal. 2-2.

When everyone was thinking an extra time, MDIS scored the third goal as Eugene was out of position to deny long range shot. PINTU FC tried to knock the door but MDIS stood still. Billy nearly equalize but his shot was agonizingly wide from the target.

PINTU FC exited from the competition and MDIS progressed to the semifinal. It was an amusing game as both teams showing great desire to playing great football and creating chances on both ends, but MDIS was more clinical in front of goal, capitalizing chances created to three vital goals. It was a hard defeat to swallow for PINTU FC, but definitely an invaluable lesson for them.
