Olymppic 2015 Review

PINTU FC bowed out of the tournament despite showing a very encouraging performance in the Group Stage. Four points from 1 win and 1 draw from 3 games was not enough to claim a place in semifinal as MAPIA had one point more from PINTU FC.

PINTU FC vs MAPIA 3-3
PINTU FC came back from three goals down to grab a 3-3 draw against MAPIA, which repeats the scoreline of the previous meeting against MAPIA in the Liga PPIS 2014. PINTU FC started the game well, dominating possession and creating chances. Yonathan and Channing were pretty close to opens the score. Channing attempted an overhead kick from Irvan's cross, but his attempt was not accurate. On the other end Jose was required to make an important touch on a through ball. However, they conceded the opener as one of MAPIA's striker sneak past David and Pentium through a counter attack from PINTU FC's corner, 0-1. They conceded another goal as they failed to mark MAPIA's no 7 who unleashed a venomous strike to Jose's goal, 0-2. Christiandy could have grabbed one back as he got into 1v1 chance against the opposition keeper but the shot stopper was on upper hand this time. The first half ended with PINTU FC conceded twice without scoring any.

On the second half, MAPIA scored yet another goal as the same person who scored the second goal grabbed another goal, 0-3. MAPIA defended very deep to defend their lead, but Christiandy Franciscus was able to move to the right side of the goal before slammed the ball over keepers body to make it 1-3. He scored another one from corner as the keeper failed to properly claim the ball. The ball bounced to the post and Christiandy Franciscus came first to rebound the ball 2-3. After another few chances, PINTU FC finally equalized after Reinardus Channing received Jose's excellent throw, before putting it past the keeper, 3-3. On the dying minutes, Alvin Jonathan got a chance to win the game from the freekick after the opposition keeper hold the ball for too long, but his shot was denied by the defender. 3-3 is the final scoreline, but this failure to get more goals would proved costly in the future.

PINTU FC vs INSIM A 1-2
It was another catch-up game for the team but PINTU FC failed to equalize in the dying minutes despite the momentum against one of the contenders INSIM A. PINTU FC received few attacks on the first half. Jose Giovanni made a fine save from a shot in the area. However, they conceded shortly after as Adrian made a smart move to finish from a corner, 0-1 PINTU FC conceded another goal in few minutes after, as David Sinjaya was nutmegged by INSIM player before Jose was beaten on the tight angle, 0-2. Half time was ended with PINTU FC trailing two goals, though generally they defended well against INSIM's attack. Jose Giovanni has been particularly well to make few brave saves on the first half.

Second half was different, though, as PINTU FC pressed very high to force INSIM defend in their area and could not develop their game. PINTU FC coach, Alvin Kennardi deployed surprise tactical gamble which almost paid off. Alvin Tandias, played as striker, reduced the deficit to one goal after he did turn INSIM's last man to beat the keeper. PINTU FC kept pushing forward and throwing bodies to the prime area nearing the end of the game, leaving Irvan Indra as the last man, though he did his job pretty well. He nearly sent off at the death as he pushed INSIM's Adrian, but the referee was lenient, as the crowd shouting Irvan as a "good boy who went church". Until the final whistle, despite few chances, PINTU FC was unable to claim the equalizer. It was one of the game where INSIM were pushed back and could not play as they like.

PINTU FC vs KUNCI 4-1
It was a need-win game for both teams if they wanted to qualify, if MAPIA lost against INSIM. PINTU FC dominated the game from the beginning, and got the front foot of the game as they scored goal within few minutes of the opening, as Reinardus Channing scored the goal from Irvan's assist, 1-0. He smashed the ball on the far post following a nice team play by PINTU FC. Few minutes later, Alvin Jonathan calmly put the ball past the keeper, receiving Christiandy's tidy pass, 2-0. Yonathan Eldrian could have added the third but his shot was wide off the target when he had one on one chance. PINTU FC Keeper Eugene Sebastian got hit in the head during the scramble as he received treatment and substituted, but he was okay and could continue the game after the break.

On the second half, KUNCI tried to get something out of the game and they tried to dominate the game. However, it was PINTU FC who had real chance on the second half. Alvin Jonathan stole the ball down the left and sent the ball to Chaning, but as he pulled the trigger, his shot was well blocked by the defender. KUMIS finally clawed one back after Eugene failed to stop a shot through the middle, 2-1. Arief lost the possession in his own area before one of KUNCI player released a wicked shot to beat the keeper. However, Irvan Indra quickly restored the two goals lead through a powerful freekick deflected by the wall to the goal. 3-1 Reinardus Channing locked the game as he put the ball to the net after  a nice team play, assisted by Alvin Tandias, 4-1. As the referee blow the whistle, PINTU FC won the match, but not the qualification to the next round. This match also was the final match for all the four year students in the squad: Eugene Sebastian, Alvin Tandias, and David Sinjaya.
