Liga PPIS Day 2 Review

It was a tough day for PINTU FC as they faced PINUS, INSIM, and MAPIA on Premier Pitch Khalsa on the second gameweek, but PINTU FC managed to grab four points from today's game from a win against PINUS and a draw against MAPIA. This result brought PINTU FC to third place in the final standing of Liga PPIS 2014 with 10 points from total 6 games played, a steady improvement from last year's result

PINTU FC vs PINUS 2-1 (HT 1-0)
PINTU FC recorded a hard fought win against PINUS in a fairly interesting game. The first half was a quite even game as both teams played with an offensive desire. Andhita almost opened the score when his placing shot to bottom corner denied by Deiver, PINUS Keeper. It was PINTU to break the deadlock when Andhita took a smart kick in to send the ball to Billy Sebastian, who made no mistake to beat the keeper, 1-0. No more goals were scored in the first half though both teams exchanging attacks for the final few minutes.
Second half just started few minutes and PINUS equalized though a unfortunate deflection by Mario Sandi, 1-1. Shocked by this goal, PINTU FC increased the intensity of the game and almost made an instant reply as Christiandy faced a 1v1 situation but denied by the keeper. Irvan Indra finally brought PINTU FC to a win when he sneaked past the defender to receive an excellent corner, 2-1. PINUS pushed for equalizer in the dying minutes of the game but failed to threaten Jose's goal and PINTU FC got away with a win.

PINTU FC vs INSIM 1-4 (HT 0-2)
It was a harsh scoreline despite encouraging display shown by PINTU FC against the defending champions, as they conceded four goals to one in the 5th game of the League. PINTU FC actually got a bright start as Reinardus Channing released Yonathan Eldrian who released a wicked shot only to be denied by the post on the first minute. However, PINTU FC conceded from Adrian midway through first half as he sent the ball to bottom corner, 0-1. They conceded another goal after a scramble on the defence area was fully capitalized by the opposition, 0-2

On the second half, Reinardus Channing pulled one back as he smashed the ball to the goal to make it 1-2. After that goal, PINTU FC got the momentum to find the goal and threaten INSIM few times before the time out. Despite pushing for equalizer, it was INSIM who scored the next goal as Kevin E unleashed a thunderous drive past Eugene from a freekick, 1-3. INSIM put the game over as Adrian scored another goal from smart finish, 1-4. A tough defeat to swallow for PINTU FC, but in this match, the winner is the one who was more clinical in front of goal.

PINTU FC vs MAPIA 3-3 (HT 2-0)
PINTU FC locked the 3rd place as they are held 3-3 by MAPIA in a highly entertaining match. The match was started with a high tempo and PINTU FC nearly conceded had Alvin not made a superb last ditch tackle to deny a two-against-one situation. PINTU FC tried to take control of the game and they got the first goal through Billy Sebastian, who dashed to the left side and put a simple finish past the keeper to make it 1-0. Andhita Dananjaya doubled the lead through a similar situation of the first goal just before the break to make it 2-0.

After the break, PINTU FC was shocked by two successive goals in the midway of the second half. Jose was beaten from a rocket shot to the roof of the goal for the first goal, before he was unable to handled the ball well from a indirect freekick and deflected the ball to his own net. The scoreline went level to 2-2 and the game got more intense. PINTU FC retook the lead through Reinardus Channing who got a nice through pass and beat the keeper by a smart finish to the bottom corner, 3-2. However, in the latter stages of the game, PINTU FC conceded a penalty after a team foul. Eugene, who came in after MAPIA's equalizer, was not able to keep the penalty out and the match ended in 3-3 draw.

Liga PPIS 2014 Review: Day 1

PINTU FC was able to pick up two victories out of three games in the first day of the Liga PPIS 2014 in Khalsa Premier Pitch. They beat ERC and KUMIS in the first two matches but subsequently unable to continue their form against Pelikan, thus collecting 6 points from 9 points available, equal points with ERC whom PINTU FC beat in the first match. INSIM has the same points but they just played two games, while Pelikan leading the table on the first day, collecting 7 points from 3 games.

PINTU FC vs ERC 8-6 (HT 2-3)
Goal galore was present in the first match of the league in a very bright day when the match as PINTU FC came from behind to beat ERC 8-6.

PINTU FC started nervously as they conceded once from a shot from the right side of their defence. 0-1. Christiandy Franciscus equalized with a smart finish in front of the goal to make it 1-1, before JRC restored their lead through a venomous shot through the middle, 1-2. Things didn't seem right for PINTU FC as Irvan Indra was dispossessed near his area and gave ERC a free chance and they doubled their lead, 1-3. However, Alvin Tandias reduced the deficit to a goal after he unleashed a wicked shot from the prime area outside the box, 2-3. Just before the break, Mario Sandi had a great chance to equalized but he was unable to lob the ball just one meter in front of the keeper. The first half ended with PINTU FC trailing.

Second half is when the real entertainment served for the fans. The game just started few minutes when Billy Sebastian equalized from a brilliant corner handled poorly by the opposition keeper before Andhita Dananjaya finished a silky team play with Alvin Tandias and Christiandy, 4-3. This lead brought PINTU FC's confidence to control the game and created few chances. Alvin Tandias doubled the lead as he unleashed yet another vicious strike to beat the keeper, 5-3.

After that goal, the teams exchanged goals until the end of the game. ERC grabbed one goal back through counter, but Irvan Indra restored the two goals lead by a composed finish from the corner to make it 6-4. ERC once again pulled one back but Irvan Indra hammered a marvellous goal from the right flank to make it 7-5. ERC once more reduced the deficit to one goal after one of their players turned Irvan to beat Jose Giovanni. However, before they could equalize, Reinardus Channing delivered the final blow as he scored from the kick-off to seal the game 8-6.

The first game is always difficult, but PINTU FC was able to overcome that nerve and grabbed a precious three points through a very entertaining - but thrilling - game.

PINTU FC vs KUMIS 3-1 (HT 1-0)
The second match has less goal than the first match but that does not mean the game was not as intense as the previous game, as PINTU FC won 3-1 through a solid display against KUMIS.

The game started quite evenly but Andhita Dananjaya unleashed a fine shot to beat KUMIS' keeper to make PINTU FC lead 1-0. PINTU FC continued to press on KUMIS' defence but failed to add any goal. Irvan nearly doubled the lead but his shot is just few inches over the bar while Billy Sebastian saw the keeper pulled a brilliant stop to deny him. KUMIS had one chance to equalized but Jose Giovanni produced a fine save to deny long range shot. First half ended with 1-0.

Second half is just started when PINTU FC needed Jose to made a smart save to deny a close range finish from KUMIS. Just moment after, Andhita Dananjaya showed his predatory finish by scoring his second of the game to make it 2-0. KUMIS pulled back 2-1 through a nice finish to beat Jose. Just when KUMIS tried to throw bodies to equalized, debutant Alvin Jonathan pulled the trigger to make it safe for PINTU FC, 3-1 after made a vital interception in KUMIS' area and applied a calm finish past the keeper.

The game ended with 3 points for PINTU FC via 3 goals scored in the game.

PINTU FC vs Pelikan 1-6 (HT 0-2)

It was a mauling, one-sided scoreline but it did not reflect the game as both teams attacking each other, but Pelikan were much more ruthless in front of goal, taking their chances and scored the goal.

The first half was a tight game as both teams stayed in shape to prevent goal, but it was a lapse of concentration for PINTU FC who costed them the first goal as Tandias looked blank and lost the marking, 0-1. Pelikan doubled their lead after Irvan were feinted and Jose beaten despite had a slight touch on the ball. The first half ended with two Pelikan's goal and no PINTU FC's goal.

The second half was a different story - a more open match - as PINTU FC deployed a full press tactic to dominate the ball possession and shootings, but they failed to score. They even conceded three times as Pelikan smartly counter-attacked them. Reinardus Channing grabbed one back to make it 1-5 following a chaotic scramble in the box, but Pelikan quickly scored the sixth goal, 1-6

Credit to Pelikan who played really well as a unit and taking chances when it matters, but it would serve as invaluable experience for PINTU FC for them to move forward.
